Celebrate the
sunshine with us this summer and dance! We offer
many ongoing classes for all ages with monthly summer
drop in punch card options , week long summer dance
camps for children, and have an exciting lineup of guest
teachers and workshops. Prepare to be inspired!

Camp
July 18 - 22 M - F
9:00 - 12:00 Pre K- 3rd Grade
Your little dancer
will explore classical ballet stories such as Sleeping Beauty and
Cinderella, and more modern characters such as the much loved Angelina
Ballerina! Each day students will dance, enjoy movement and dance
related games and imagery, listen to stories, color and create through
theme related crafts.
Bring a snack,
water and wear dance attire. No experience required.
Cost: $170

Dance and Gymnastics Camp
August 1 - 4th M - Th 9:00 - 5:00 pm
Ages 7 - 12 (Turning 7 before Sept 1)

GYMNASTICS East! Two exciting activities= One Great Summer Camp!
Daily Schedule:
9 am drop off at Issaquah Dance Theatre
9:00 - 12:30pm Dance class, games and choreography!
12:30 – 1:00p.m. - Lunch at Issaquah Dance Theatre
1:00 - 5pm Tumbling, balance beams, Bars, Rope, Trampoline plus bouncing
fun inside our Hum V inflatable bouncer. Weather permitting we will have
games in the private park behind us.
5:00p.m. Pick up at Gymnastics East
To top
off an exciting week a parent show will be held on Thursday from 4:45 pm
- 5pm!

week workshop, however students may sign up for half sessions

Dancers are required to attend Ballet technique class prior from 10 -
11:30 am. (Pointe following 11:30 - 12)
This class is
not included in unlimited tuition. Unlimited tuition students are
offered a discounted rate of $11/hr.
Choreography and
Improvisation

Instructor:
Mary Thurtle
In this
class, students explore their own artistic expression, learning how to
create and refine their own choreography and concept for a theoretical
performance piece. Each class will include a brief lesson from the book,
Choreography: A Basic Approach Using Improvisation, followed by movement
exercises that illuminate the days' lesson. Lessons are varied in
content, from basic breath-work derived improvisation exercises, to
honing staging skills, learning about choreographic forms, and even
exploring costuming and other performance elements. Students are sure to
get an educational experience about the art of dance.
Prerequisite: All levels age 12+
This
class is not included in unlimited tuition. Unlimited tuition
students are offered a discounted rate of $11/hr.
GYROKINESIS® and Ballet
Monday August 1 Gyrokinesis
12:30 - 2:00/Ballet 2:15 - 3:45.
Drop ins permitted to
Gyrokinesis alone or the two classes back to back (ballet class only
drop in not permitted).

Cvjetnicanin
Feel the love of movement
through Gyrokinesis as a wonderful warm-up before a fabulous ballet
class! Any bodies are welcome to attend Gyrokinesis at 12:30 and not
required to attend the ballet class. Please come drop in and bring a
yoga mat, stools will be provided.
Jamien
danced professionally with Sarasota Ballet and with several modern dance
choreographers in NY and NC, and holds a BA with distinction from UNC-Chapel
Hill in Human Movement Science. Jamien aims to bring
integrity, focus and artistry to her teaching, helping clients develop
an intuitive and positive connection to their bodies and a joy of
movement. She is a certified GYROTONIC and GYROKINESIS instructor at
Gyrotonic Movement Center in Seattle and teaches pilates the Pacific
Northwest Ballet Seattle location.
Prerequisite: Ballet level

Junior Jazz Technique

pm. 1 Day 2 hour workshop.

Just a little something extra
this summer to hone your technique and skills this summer! Ms. Mary
will cover jazz placement, turns and leaps in this workshop class geared
for level II and III jazz students.
Prerequisite: Level II+

included in unlimited tuition. Cost for this workshop is $25.

#1 Intermediate/Advanced Jazz
Instructor: Kirsten Cooper
Kirsten trained in Washington
State then moved to Los Angeles when she was nineteen years old. She
trained at Edge Performing Arts Center in Hollywood for five years. She
also assisted Rhonda Miller, Jeff Amsden and Liz Imperio. While in Los
Angeles she worked in film, video and stage. Kirsten danced on Costa
Cruise Lines, toured with LADF, demonstrated on LADF and Jeff Amsden
instructional videos, Sony Disc Industrial Film and numerous ABBA hair
shows. Kirsten now teaches full time in the Seattle area as well as
traveling the U.S. to do choreography and master classes. She has run a
pre-professional jazz company out of Westlake Dance since 1997. Her goal
with the company is to train the dancers for dance careers and instill
in them that hard work is just as important as talent. They have
performed at "Sign Of the Times", "Dance This" @ The Moore Theatre and
the PONCHO gala benefit. They were honored to dance in the Tanzsommer
Dance Festival 2006 in Austria. Many of her students have gone on to do
the one-year study program at Edge and the summer program Dance
With The Force. They have toured with Paul McCarthy, Backstreet
Boys, Avril Lavigne and Celine Dion. They have done videos with Fiona
Apple and Black Eyed Peas, as well as the movie"Dreamgirls" and the
upcoming remake of "Fame" out this fall. She currently has students
dancing in the Hysterica Dance Company (LA) and Odyssey (Salt Lake
City). Kirsten continues to share the passion of dance with all whether
in the classroom or with her choreography on the stage. She feels
blessed to be able to do this as her job. She also is very proud of her
newest production, her daughter Tristan Isabella.
#2 Intermediate/Advanced Hip Hop

Ron studied dance and
performed professionally in Los Angeles. He has choreographed piece for
Carnival, Choreographer's Ball, Seattle Fashion Week, and Unrated. He
is currently the director and choreographer of ButchQueens
Entertainment.

Woodard
Christina's unique style and challenging classes have put her in demand
as a master teacher and choreographer throughout the world. Her
extensive knowledge of anatomy allows her to provide exciting and
educational classes with a deep focus on stretch, strength and
placement, while her incredible energy and compassion has made her
popular with dancers of all ages. She is a faculty member of EDGE
Performing Arts Center, Dance Masters of America, Groove Street Dance
Conventions and Harbour Dance Center in Canada. Christina's TV and FILM
credits include: VICTORIOUS (Nickelodeon), iCARLY (Nickelodeon), Motion
City Soundtrack "HER WORDS" Music Video, GARY UNMARRIED w/ Rob Riggle
(CBS), The STEVE HARVEY SHOW (WB), SUDDENLY SUSAN w/Brooke Shields (WB),
FAME (Sony), and THE NIKKI COX SHOW (WB). Industrials for GUESS, DISNEY,
NESTLE AND NIKE. Currently Christina is teaching all over the country,
and choreographing on the new show "Victorious" with Victoria Justice on
NICKELODEON.
#4 How to Ace an Audition!

We all know that nerves can
run high in an audition setting. Ms. Jen will teach dancers how to ACE
an audition-how to keep cool under pressure, how to present their
strengths, and how to stand out from the pack to book that gig, win that
scholarship, or take the lead role!
#5 Ballet with PNB Principal Carla
Korbes
Saturday August 27. Drop ins permitted.
CARLA KORBES was born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and began her ballet
training at age five with local teachers. At age eleven, she began
studying at Ballet Vera Bublitz. In 1996, Peter Boal danced with her as
a guest artist of the school and encouraged her to come to New York to
study at the School of American Ballet. For academic year 1997–1998, her
tuition was paid by Alexandra Danilova so that she could continue
studying at the School of American Ballet. In 1999, she was the Mae. L.
Wien Award recipient and was made an apprentice with New York City
Ballet. She joined the company as a member of the corps de ballet in
2000 and was the Janice Levin Dancer Honoree for 2001–2002. She was
promoted to soloist in 2005 and later that year joined Pacific Northwest
Ballet as a Soloist.
Since joining Pacific
Northwest Ballet, Ms. Körbes has danced leading roles in George
Balanchine’s Concerto Barocco and Symphony in Three Movements, Nacho
Duato’s Jardí Tancat, William Forsythe’s Artifact II, Jerome Robbins’ In
the Night, and Kent Stowell’s Hail to the Conquering Hero and Nutcracker
(Clara, Flora, Peacock).
At New York City Ballet, Ms.
Körbes danced leading and featured roles in Balanchine’s Divertimento
No. 15, Episodes, A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Titania, Helena), and
Serenade; Peter Martins’ Concerto for Two Solo Pianos, Sinfonia, The
Sleeping Beauty, and Swan Lake; and Robbins’ Antique Epigraphs, Fanfare,
The Four Seasons, I’m Old Fashioned, and Interplay. She originated
leading roles in Albert Evans’ Haiku, Martins’ Chichester Psalms, Susan
Stroman’s Double Feature, Richard Tanner’s Soiree, and Christopher
Wheeldon’s An American in Paris and Shambards.In 2002, Ms. Körbes
performed Richard Tanner’s Ancient Airs and Dances for the nationally
televised PBS Live from Lincoln Center broadcast, “New York City
Ballet’s Diamond Project: Ten Years of New Choreography.”
In addition to her
performances with New York City Ballet and Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ms.
Körbes has performed with Peter Boal and Company.
