IDT Summer Dance Intensive 2008
At IDT, we encourage all of our students to audition and
attend summer intensives at various schools and dance
companies all over the country and abroad. The
enrichment, training and opportunity is invaluable to
the development of the dancer and individual. Some
audition information is posted in our lobby so please
feel free to come take a look.
The more our dancers attend these summer courses each
year, it is all the more reason for us to simply offer
ongoing classes with punch card options for dancers to
keep their bodies tuned over the summer. Additionally,
we have decided to offer a one week intensive involving
more intense study here at our home studios. We will
bring in different guest teachers, physicians and
trainers each year to offer a unique and fun event for
students to share together. Non IDT students may also
audition for placement purposes and join us.
Whether you are attending a summer intensive elsewhere
or not, we invite students to join us for this unique
and fun dance week!
This intensive is offered to students ages 10+, IDT
Level III and up. If you are not a current student,
this is about the equivalent of a 3 - 4th year ballet
student, or a teen 2nd year ballet student with other
dance discipline experience such as jazz or modern.
Students will be divided into two levels: Level III/IV
and IV-V to be determined by IDT.

Daily instruction by resident faculty and guest
teachers:
Ballet, pre-pointe/pointe, beginning pas de duex/partnering,
modern, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, turns and leaps,
conditioning (pilates mat or gyrokinesis), dance
history, discussion with physical therapist, pointe shoe
care and choreography.
The last day of the intensive will culminate in a studio
performance free to observers.
Non- IDT LEVEL IV and up Student Audition Information:
Please arrange for a placement class at our studios OR
send a 5 - 10 minute video that includes barrework-
tendus, adagio, grand battement and centre- pirouettes
endehors and endedans, petit allegro and grande allegro.
Intensive Date and Times: August 18 - 22
Monday through Friday 12 - 8 pm
Tuition: $380
If students are only able to attend some days of the
intensive, this may be possible upon approval from the
director.
